Aloha & Light Baby Carrier Review: Eco Fin & Onbuhimo
Share
If you're on the hunt for a water friendly baby carrier that is both beautiful and practical, the Aloha and Light Eco Fin and Onbuhimo carriers are definitely worth a look. After trying both, here’s what I think of each one.
Aloha & Light Fabric
It's no secret that Aloha & Light carriers are nice to look at; each one is hand dyed for a beautiful, one of a kind look. Thier unique eco-silk fabric is a lightweight, breathable material that is gentle against baby’s skin and perfect for warm weather. Best of all, it’s waterproof and quick to dry! Both carriers are great for outdoor adventures like hiking, splash pads, or a day at the beach without worrying about soggy fabric.

Aloha and Light Eco Fin Carrier
The Eco-Fin is Aloha & Light's waistband carrier. If features a ring waist, PFA's, and cushy arm padding. Apron waistband full buckle carriers are usually my go-to, so I had high expectations for this one. I like that even with the thick arm padding, the carrier is still lightweight and isn't bulky at all. Another popular water safe carrier that I've tried held on to so much water before wringing out and it always felt bulky while wearing so this was a pleasant improvement! Because the fabric is so thin, the waistband strap does tend to bunch up somewhat while wearing. I did find that making sure to smooth the waistband out before air drying and/or ironing it between uses did cut down on this somewhat though. Not a dealbreaker on an otherwise great carrier but I did find myself wishing that it felt a bit sturdier.

Aloha & Light Onbuhimo Carrier
The Onbuhimo has the same cushy arm padding and thin panel as the Eco-Fin but without a waistband. This one was a bit of a shock to me because of how much I liked it! I've never tried an onbuhimo that I was much a fan of until this one. I just typically prefer the weight distribution of having a waistband, but something about the padding and PFA's on the A&L version made it a really comfortable carry for me. I found that both front carry (while playing in water) and back carry (for most other uses) were really practical in this carrier. I especially enjoyed not having a waistband while I was pregnant even though I used to prefer a waistband carrier during past pregnancies. For someone who usually is not an onbuhimo fan, I honestly have nothing bad to say about this carrier!

While the Onbuhimo (shockingly!) was my favorite of the two, both carriers are definitely worth trying and I think most moms would enjoy either one!
